Azerbaijan always favoured maintaining good relations with its neighbours-Ali Ahmadov
The ruling New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) does not think it necessary to respond to Iran's recent note of protest with another note.

"I think there is no ground for this," YAP Deputy Chairman Ali Ahmadov told journalists.

He had been asked whether Baku would present a note in response to Iran's note, accusing Azerbaijan of links to Israeli secret services.

"I would not want any steps which might harm the friendly ties between our countries," Ahmadov said.

He said Azerbaijan always favoured maintaining good relations with its neighbours.

Bahar Muradova, a deputy speaker of parliament and YAP MP, told journalists that "Some of Iran’s actions could damage relations with Azerbaijan."

"Azerbaijan’s attitude towards neighbouring states and even towards states which have a hostile position is based on the principles of international law. Azerbaijan always observes diplomatic norms. We will express our attitude and position in this form," Muradova said.

"Some Iranian circles, including the official authorities, should express their opinion in accordance with the level of bilateral relations with Azerbaijan and take care in such matters, because relations are built over years and decades, but can be destroyed in a moment. The current situation of Iran obliges it to take account of these issues in its relations with neighbouring countries, in particular, with Azerbaijan, which is a friendly and brotherly country."
