At the consent of the heads of representation of the EU member-states
in Baku, the EU office has made a statement congratulating Azerbaijan on
election as nonpermanent member of the UN Security Council for
2012-2013.
The statement reads:
"In recognition of Azerbaijan’s efforts, 155 countries in the most
influential international organization gave their votes for this
country.
In this context, the EU office welcomes the commitments of the country
related to UN values and principles based on peace and democracy. EU
also shared these principles and values.
The EU office is ready to assist Azerbaijan in implementation of
appeals and opportunities resulting from its new status and hopes to
boost cooperation and established a closer dialogue in all international
issues".
