Azerbaijan is ready to deliver 1 billion cubic meters natural gas to Bulgaria from 2014

Azerbaijan is ready to supply natural gas to Bulgaria by 2014, immediately after building of interconnections with Turkey and Greece. This was agreed between the Minister of Economy and Energy Traicho Traikov and Azerbaijani Minister of Energy and Industry Natig Aliyev (see photo). They met at the Crans Montana Forum, held in Brussels. Country partner of the forum this year is Azerbaijan.

Azerbaijan is ready to provide over 1 billion cubic meters of natural gas annually to Bulgaria through Turkey. This will be carried out before implementing the second phase of the field "Shah Deniz", which is expected to feed the pipeline "Nabucco." Within two months' Bulgartransgaz and Azeri state oil and gas company" SOCAR will continue discussions about routes for supply of natural gas to Bulgaria and Southeastern Europe.

Traikov once again raised the issue about Azerbaijan support for pipeline "Nabucco", which is crucial for the diversification of gas supplies, providing access for Caspian gas to Europe.

Traykov and Aliyev discussed the project for supply of compressed natural gas across the Black Sea. Bulgartransgaz and SOCAR jointly completed pre-feasiblility study on the economic expedience of the project, then plans to start feasibility study.
