The start of assessment of damage caused by the conflict is a serious message for Armenia - Ali Hasanov
"A structure must be determined for calculation of damage caused by Armenia to Azerbaijan. The international experience must be studied for it", Deputy Prime Minister, Chairman of the State Committee for Work with Refugees and IDPs Ali Hasanov said at the conference on topic "Calculation of damage done in conflicts".

According to him, there is a confidence in calculations made by several international organizations on it. Our aim is the calculation of damage with the participation of international organizations and achieving a document meeting the international standards. This issue is a problem of each of us – state, government and society. That’s why we need to approach seriously to this issue. The Azerbaijani government is ready to render all necessary assistances in this issue. We received this task by President Ilham Aliyev, the issue was discussed sufficiently with Prime Minister Artur Rasizadeh. Azerbaijan-based NGOs must also approach seriously to this work, we need to increase number of projects concerning it".

Deputy Prime Minister said that the start of process of damage assessment is a serious message to Armenia: "If the Armenian side is aware of it, it must draw conclusion from it. It means that Azerbaijan’s discontent in front of Armenia’s non-constructive position has boiled over. It is a serious warning for Armenia i.e. Azerbaijan will not demonstrate its patience anymore against Armenia’s position. If people living in Armenia consider themselves normal, they should now, the damage will be paid from their pocket and profit. No dollar will be paid by Serzh Sargsyan, Robert Kocharyan and their group. I say once again, the Armenians should open their eyes and hear! The damage is yet to come. Azerbaijan will not make any concessions in payment for damage. It is a large amount of money. If this amount was USD 60-70 bln 10 years ago, now this number is USD 100 bln"

According to him, though Azerbaijan determined the damage caused as a result of occupation, these calculations must meet the international standards: "It must be determined according to the international rules. The government’s position is that after liberation of occupied lands, the damage evaluation must be conducted again with the participation of international organizations and experts, because if there are no international organizations in that process, there will be certain misunderstandings in convincing them. Our main goal in it is the adoption of our document by international organizations. The Azerbaijani NGOs must be involved in this process".
