During the second week of intense European Games competitions inside the Baku 2015 stadiums and arenas, several elite athletes will also be making their presence felt in the city outside the sporting venues.
Reigning world champions Raphael Holzdeppe and Bogdan Bondarenko will be among the 24 athletes taking part in Baku 2015 Street Athletics, a series of events bringing the thrill of live sport to the Azerbaijani capital’s iconic Fountain Square.
Both German pole-vaulter Holzdeppe and Ukrainian high-jumper Bondarenko won world championship gold in Moscow in 2013, while two 2012 Olympic finalists, Silke Spiegelburg and Lisa Ryzih, will be among the female pole vaulters taking part.
The men’s and women’s pole vault will take place on 24 June between 17:30 and 20:30, with the men’s high jump at the same time on 25 June.
