Baku hosts a meeting on stabilizing situation in Afghanistan

The 4th meeting of senior officials of the Istanbul process on stabilizing the situation in Afghanistan is being held in Baku.

Addressing the meeting, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov said that this meeting would be preparatory for the foreign ministers’ meeting in Almaty in April: "The text of the declaration to be adopted by ministers in Almaty will be prepared at the meeting."

Afghanistan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Jawed Ludin noted that we are proud of historical ties with Azerbaijan: "Azerbaijan is an active participant of Istanbul process and today’s meetings is proof of that".

Istanbul process was launched in 2011 at the conference in Istanbul. It is a political process, organized by Afghanistan's direct neighbors and those in the region, in all 15 countries conventionally known as the 'Heart of Asia'. The main aim of this initiative is to ensure peace, stability and development in Afghanistan through regional factor.
