The Eurasian Development Bank reported that the construction of the Southern Corridor and Trans-Adriatic Pipeline, which will transport Azeri natural gas from the Shah Deniz fields across Georgia to Europe, will result in a $ 2 billion investment in Georgia for pipeline construction. Georgia will also have access to cheap natural gas for a generation.
Georgia has become Azerbaijan’s largest investment target. Azeris have invested $210 million in the Georgian energy, tourism, and construction industries, and investments from State Oil Company of Azerbaijan have created over 7,000 Georgian jobs.
