OSCE Minsk Group displeasure with re-formation of PACE Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh
PACE decision on the re-formation of the Subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh remains controversial in PACE. This decision conflicts with the OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries’ calls to refrain from activities, which can significantly damage the peace process.

At his January 13 press conference, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stressed the importance of preserving the current format of the conflict resolution. In this regard, Russia and France, as OSCE Minsk Group co-chairing countries expressed their resentment with PACE Bureau’s decision. "The mediators also called on PACE President to show respect for the current format of the Nagorno-Karabakh peace process. Politicians having no idea of the details of Nagorno-Karabakh peace process can no way attend the negotiation process," the daily writes.

On January 28, the subcommittee on Nagorno-Karabakh resumed its activities at the CE Parliamentary Assembly (PACE). Mr Jordi Xucla i Costa, Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe, Spain, has been appointed Chairman of the subcommittee.
