Austrian Die Presse newspaper has interviewed Azerbaijani Minister of Foreign Affairs Elmar Mammadyarov who visited Vienna to attend the 124th session of the Committee of Ministers of the Council of Europe SIA reports.
The Azerbaijani FM spoke of Azerbaijan’s chairmanship of the Committee of Ministers, the country`s role in ensuring Europe`s energy resources and its relations with other gas producers. Mammadyarov said the launch of the Baku-Tbilisi-Ceyhan oil pipeline in 2005 proved the possibility of ensuring energy security of many countries and Europe thanks to Azerbaijan’s energy resources.
Along with other gas producers Azerbaijan also looks for new markets to sell gas and wants to provide the countries without energy resources with gas.
On the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, he stressed the necessity of solving it as soon as possible, adding this would benefit the entire region.
He praised the fact that the U.S., Russian and French presidents underlined the unacceptability of the status quo in the dispute.
