The Internet site of the "Friends of Azerbaijan in South Africa" non-governmental organization has posted an article titled "The 20 January 1990 tragedy of Azerbaijanis in the hearts of South Africans" initiated by Azerbaijani Embassy in the Republic of South Africa, and dedicated to the 24th anniversary of this tragedy.
The author speaks about the history and causes of the January 20 Tragedy, the embassy said.
The author also compares this tragedy with the tragedies that took place in the Republic of South Africa (RSA) during the apartheid period and stresses that the two countries walked similar paths to freedom.
The article was also e-mailed to all members of the Organization and the RSA public.
