Ilham Aliyev: 'I called Hajibala Abutalibov and asked ‘what is the matter?''

Construction of new residential buildings requires tighter control, any lawlessness is out of order, SIA reports citing the official website of the President of Azerbaijan.

The statement came from President Ilham Aliyev during a closing speech on Monday at a conference dedicated to the implementation of the State program of socio- economic development of Baku and its settlements in 2011-2013.

President Ilham Aliyev noted that he recently saw that a building is under construction at a new area allocated for recreation places.

"I called Hajibala Abutalibov and asked:"What's the matter? " He said that it cannot be so. I said, go and check it. What does it mean?

He went and checked and made sure that a building is under construction illegally there. This place is left unchecked for two weeks and someone has already started to construct a building there .

Naturally, it was immediately taken down and those who wished to construct a building there will also be held accountable.

There is no place for arbitrariness and anarchy. Iillegal structures are built and then packaged illegally. The city’s skyline is thus being spoiled", the head of state said.

President Ilham Aliyev stressed the need to limit the construction of new residential buildings.

"Each project should be studied seriously. We should consider the construction of new buildings in the city center as a whole, impose serious restrictions. Therefore, these issues require serious control and they must be carried out in a planned manner. There is an urban development concept , associated with the further development of Baku, it is approved . All works must be performed in accordance with this concept", President says.
