Ali Ahmadov: Development of relations between Azerbaijan and Russia meets interests of both countries
"Azerbaijan and Russia enjoy effective relations covering various areas. Both sides continue efforts to develop relations as this meets interests of both countries," Deputy Chairman, Executive Secretary of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ali Ahmadov has told journalists while commenting on Russian President Vladimir Putin`s visit to Azerbaijan.
Mr. Ahmadov said documents signed during the visit would create reliable legal framework to move forward the relationship in economic and political fields.
The Deputy Chairman of the ruling party also commented on speculations within some opposition media alleging that President Vladimir Putin`s visit was a sign of support to President Ilham Aliyev in the forthcoming elections. Mr. Ahmadov said "the only force to support President Ilham Aliyev in the forthcoming elections is the Azerbaijani people, voters". "Surveys conducted in the country once more prove that the absolute majority of the population supports President Ilham Aliyev. Unlike the opposition, YAP has won support for President Ilham Aliyev inside Azerbaijan, rather than beyond the country. This support is enough for the Head of State to win the presidential elections."
