Cargo to be trasported through Azerbaijan to Europe and the other countries
Large-size cargo will be carried through Azerbaijan from the second part of this year
"ISAF troops will be withdrawn Afghanistan by the end of 2014, a part of cargo will be removed through transit corridor provided by Azerbaijan and transported to Europe and the other countries," Azerbaijan’s Deputy Foreign Minister Araz Azimov told journalists.
Araz Azimov said currently, the cargo transportation is still being continued to Afghanistan through Azerbaijan within the ISAF operation. He noted Azerbaijan made this opportunity for NATO as its contribution: "NATO members countries and partner countries are using these transit opportunities. However, ISAF troops will be withdrawn Afghanistan by the end of 2014, a part of cargo will be removed trough transit corridor provided by Azerbaijan and transported to Europe and the other countries. At present this opportunity is being used. But large-size cargo will be transported from the second part of 2013, because within a year - in 2014, all troops will be withdrawn. It is impossible to transport all cargo at once, because ISAF must remain in Afghanistan by end of this year and gradually hand over its mission to local government. The government of Afghanistan directed all forces to ensure its sovereign control in the country and independently provide security. This process is still being continued now and 90 percent has been implemented. We are cooperating with Afghanistan in all spheres and are ready to continue the cooperation."
