According to the spokesperson of the Ministry of Defense of Azerbaijan, Lieutenant-Colonel Eldar Sabiroglu, Abiyev noted that since the early days of independence, our country has been cooperating with international organizations, including the Council of Europe.
He told the guest about the military and political situation in the region and obstacles to the peaceful settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh.
"Armenia has hold the Azerbaijani lands under occupation for over 20 years and more than one million Azerbaijanis were driven from their homeland and became refugees. Armenia does not abandon its expansionist policies. Therefore, the priority is to strengthen the armed forces of Azerbaijan and to liberate the occupied territories of our country", Abiyev said.
The meeting also focused on military cooperation between Azerbaijan and Italy.
