The issue of the Gabala radar lease will be settled by the end of 2012.
The statement came from Azerbaijani FM Elmar Mammadyarov.
He said talks between the parties are currently underway and it is yet early to speak about the outcome.
Gabala radar was one of the major elements of the USSR missile defense.
After Azerbaijan gained independence Russia continued to use the station. The agreement on radar use by Russia was signed in 2002.
The term of the agreement expires on 24 December 2012. Today Russia and Azerbaijan continue talks regarding a new lease agreement.
