The constitutional bill caused heated debates among MPs in a parliamentary meeting held on Tuesday.
In response to a question by Vahid Ahmadov "whom the law will apply",
chair of the legal policy and state-building committee Ali Huseynov said
the law will apply to all presidents without a record of imprisonment
and impeachment.
MP Zahid Oruj said he will vote against the bill if it is put for vote
in its current form. Chairman of Umid Party Iqbal Agazade noted that the
law should apply to all three former presidents.
MP from the ruling party Aydin Mirzazade said all details have been
taken into account and the bill meets requirements of democratic
environment.
Later, the bill was adopted with 110 votes being in favor, three against and one neutral.
