The Turkish Interior Ministry said on Monday that 264 people had died
in a massive earthquake that hit the eastern province of Van.
Some 400 people are also believed to be trapped under the debris of ruined buildings.
Dozens of countries have already offered assistance to Turkey, among them Russia.
