Turksat 4B communications satellite will be launched into orbit from Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan on 16 October 2015.The satellite will be put into orbit by Proton-M launch vehicle.
Turksat 4B is the second telecommunication satellite built by Mitsubishi Electric Corp. (MELCO), a leading Japanese satellite corporation, for Turksat Satellite Communication, Cable TV and Operation A.S., Turkey’s satellite operator. The new satellite will provide broadband communication and broadcasting services from England to China, in the territory of Turkey, as well as Europe, Africa, the Middle East and Central Asia.
Turksat 4B will be placed into geostationary orbit at 50 degrees east longitude. The device is equipped with a large number of transponders. The satellite has an anticipated service life of 30 years.
The spacecraft will expand the existing capacity of Turkey in the field of space communications, as well as increase the reliability of services in the coverage area.
The satellite weighs 4924 kg, the number of transponders is 36, and features high flexibility, the ability of connection in the coverage area to provide communication services and provision of various services to users.
