On October 13, 2014 Minister Elmar Mammadyarov received the Vietnamese delegation headed by Lê Hồng Anh, member of the Political Bureau, Standing Secretary of Secretariat of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam.
Noting the historical relations between Azerbaijan and Vietnam, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov expressed his satisfaction with the dynamic development of bilateral relations. Underlining the national leader Heydar Aliyev’s visit to Vietnam during the Soviet times, minister Elmar Mammadyarov stressed that the visit of H.E. Mr. Ilham Aliyev, President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to Vietnam gave an impetus to development of bilateral relations.
Highly appreciating the visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Vietnam in stepping the Azerbaijani-Vietnamese relations to a new level, Lê Hồng Anh noted the vast potential for the development of the relations between the two countries. Noting the importance of the exchange of visits in different fields and expanding the legal base in the development of the relations, Lê Hồng Anh said two counties successfully to cooperate in various issues, as well as within the international organizations.
Speaking about the current status of the negotiations towards the resolution of Armenia-Azerbaijan Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, Minister Elmar Mammadyarov noted that for the resolution of the conflict, first and foremost, the armed forces of Armenia must be withdrawn from the occupied territories of Azerbaijan.
The sides also had an exchange of views on a range of issues of mutual interest.
