Signature sheets and other necessary documents for candidacy of chairman of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP) Ilham Aliyev for Azerbaijani presidency have been submitted to the Central Election Commission, deputy executive secretary of the ruling New Azerbaijan Party, MP Siyavush Novruzov told SIA.
Mr Novruzov noted that 900 signature sheets were filled and submitted in accordance with the requires of the Election Code: ‘45,000 signatures covering 125 constituencies have been submitted to the CEC together with the relevant documents and had been accepted’.
Novruzov said the campaign would start on September 16.
On August 10, the Central Election Commission ratified nomination of Ilham Aliyev.
Deadline for signature collection campaign is September 9. The candidates submitting signature sheets till this date will be registered by the CEC and start campaign from September 16.
