Deputy Foreign Minister: "Nagrono Karabakh conflict is the main obstacle for the Azerbaijan-EU cooperation"
"Azerbaijan doesn’t agree with the European Union’s potion concerning Nagorno Karabakh", said the Deputy Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Mahmud Mammadguliyev at the international conference entitled "Restoration of bridges".
He said that international organizations haven’t expressed the distinct position concerning the above mentioned conflict: "Thought, the European Union had its concrete position concerning other conflicts, but when it comes to Azerbaijan, EU declares that it supports the position of OSCE Minsk group co-chairs concerning this issue and waits when they will pass the final decision. Such approach to this issue isn’t enough, because Armenia, using the above mentioned approach, only prolongs the settlement of the conflict. Nagrono Karabakh conflict is the main obstacle for the Azerbaijan-EU cooperation now".
Deputy Minister declared that at present, Azerbaijan doesn’t intend to become a member of the European Union: "The state’s government can pass the final decision only after the leading and the highest experience of the EU will be transformed to Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan-EU cooperation started in 1996 and the agreements on more than 30 articles of the cooperation program have been achieved trough different negotiations last year. Unfortunately, we haven’t come to the mutual decision concerning Nagorno Karabakh issue yet. We have already presented preliminary version of it, but we haven’t received the answer yet".
