Achievements of Azerbaijani sportsmen are a sign of great attention to sports in our country.
The statement came from Minister of Youth and Sports of Azerbaijan Azad Rahimov speaking within the Day of Physical Training and sports.
"This is a national holiday. Azerbaijan is a country of sports. President Ilham Aliyev declared 2012 as the Year of Sports and we want this year to be full of interesting events", the minister said.
He stressed the participation of Azerbaijan in the London Olympics this year and voiced confidence in the successful performance of our sportsmen in this competition.
He said huge work is being done as part of Baku’s nomination as a host country for 2020 Olympic Games. Today, Rahimov paid a tribute to the grave of our national leader Heydar Aliyev at the Alley of Honor. The awarding of sport veterans followed.
