Azerbaijan is doing more to fight against human trafficking-Matthew Bryza

Azerbaijan is doing more to fight against human trafficking, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza said addressing the Fourth Regional Meeting on assistance to human trafficking victims and social integration model development in Baku.

He said Azerbaijan is doing significantly better than we thought in the sphere of human trafficking.

"Since we have been working together Azerbaijan is doing more to fight against labor trafficking," Bryza added.

At present, there are 33,000 human trafficking victims in the world.

The event is attended by head of the Interior Ministry's Department for Combating Human Trafficking Javad Shikaliyev, U.S. Ambassador to Azerbaijan Matthew Bryza, the International Organization for Migration's country director for Southern and Eastern Europe and Central Asia Renate Held Hyatt.

"In Azerbaijan I have been working on counter-trafficking in persons since 2000. Within this period we have implemented almost 15 projects in the country, including projects funded by the U.S. Department of State, EU, and Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation," Hyatt said.

She said they have excellent relations with Government.
