Armenia will continue to exist at the expense of outside contributors, remaining in isolation and approaching the level of a failed state.
The statement came from Director of the Centre for Strategic Studies (SAM) Farhad Mammadov at a briefing on Tuesday.
"According to official data of the National Statistical Service for the year 2011, due to high levels of poverty - 35%, and the residue of income from transfers from abroad - 53% of the population, the inhabitants of Armenia have fully host the natural instinct of self-preservation, aspects such as fear and pecuniary interest were the context of its electoral activity," he said.
According to Mammadov, President of Armenia Serzh Sargsyan did everything in his power to prevent the possibility of outside funders to use alternative political force against him.
"Armenia's budget for 2013 can be characterized as 'the budget of existence ', since there are practically no investment projects," said the head of the SAM.
According to him, out of fear and material needs, the population of Armenia will have to vote for Serzh Sargsyan, who, although decided tactical problem of winning the election, but will face more problems in solving strategic problems.
"The refusal of entry into the geopolitical projects of Russia and the inability to fully integrate into Europe due to the closure of borders with Turkey create obstacles for Serzh Sargsyan that Armenia will not be able to address under present conditions," he added.
Mammadov noted that over the past five years, Serzh Sargsyan did not solve a single pan-Armenian issue. He cited the lack of a breakthrough in the settlement of the Armenian-Azerbaijani Nagorno-Karabakh conflict, the continuation of normalization of Armenian-Turkish relations without the settlement of the Nagorno-Karabakh conflict and the loss of relevance of mythical "Armenian genocide" due to the failure to use the "genocide club" against Turkey which is superior in economic power and regional significance.
"The life of ordinary citizens of Armenia has not improved. According to recent data, for the 11 months of the year, 2,53m people left the country and only 1,981m returned. The difference between those who left and those arrived in Armenia was about 72,000 people. If we add the negative balance of the last three years, the total number of people who left the country for three years is about 155,000 people, or about 5% of the population officially declared," said Mammadov, noting that official Armenian statistics overstate population of the country to 2.9 million people, while according to the OSCE, the Armenian population does not exceed 2 million people.
