A conference on e-governance in Tallin

An international conference on e-governance will be held in Tallin, Estonia on May 12-13. The conference dedicated to building e-government will be attended by world’s leading experts in the field of e-governance, representatives of governments, business, academia, international organizations as well as civil society groups.

Azerbaijan at the event will be represented by a delegation led by Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies Elmir Velizadeh.

It should be noted that the conference is organized in the framework of "ICT Week" in Estonia. Events of the week will begin on May 11 with the seminar "Public Administration Reforms".

The conference will focus on topics, such as e-government strategy planning, 15 years of experience in e-governance in the countries of the Eastern Partnership of the European Union; coordination and relationship in central e-governance, cyber security and e-governance. Speech by President of Estonia Toomas Hendrik Ilves is also among main conference reports.

Deputy Minister Elmir Velizadeh will address the opening ceremony of the seminar on May 11, will participate as a speaker in the panel discussion entitled "Cooperation, coordination and communication - can we organize e-governance?" on May 12, and will make a speech at the closing ceremony of the conference on May 13.

The event participants will also see a presentation on the experience of the formation of e-government in Azerbaijan.

The organizers of the event say that e-governance and open government has become a household concept in most of countries in the modern world. Today, 65 participating countries have already joined the Open Government Partnership. The governments of these countries have pledged to work together with civil society to implement and develop open government reforms. At the same time, the countries that joined the cooperation undertake to carry out innovative reforms in the area of transparency, accountability and involvement of citizens in the ongoing process.
