“The Gainsville Sun” publishes an article on violating Azerbaijani airspace by Armenian helicopter

The Gainsville Sun has published a letter of Azerbaijanian activist Durdana Balakishiyeva titled "U.S. must help post-Soviet allies", SIA reports.

The letter says:

Recently, an armed Armenian military helicopter was shot down deep inside Azerbaijani territory. This map may help understand what happened: http://usazeris.org/ArmenianHelicopterShotdown.gif

Yet, no condemnation of Armenian occupation of Azerbaijan and the incursion into Azerbaijani airspace from the White House or the State Department.

Consider this: Armenia has committed an illegal act of aggression against Azerbaijan and occupies 16 percent of Azerbaijan (including Nagorno-Karabakh and seven adjacent districts, such as the district of Aghdam, where the armed Armenian military helicopter was legitimately shot down). Despite four U.N. Security Council resolutions, which the U.S. supported, which call on Armenian armed forces to unconditionally withdraw from Azerbaijan and thus stop its illegal occupation and aggression, they are being ignored — with no condemnation of the illegal military occupation of Azerbaijani lands by Armenia from the United States.

An Armenian military helicopter flying in sovereign Azerbaijani airspace was a grave violation of the domestic Azerbaijani and international laws, and a continuing of Armenia's military aggression. To put it bluntly, if an Azerbaijani helicopter flew in Armenia's airspace, it would have been shot down, too. A Cuban airplane in U.S. airspace gets shot down, too.

Azerbaijan has declared the entire airspace over the occupied territories (including Aghdam) as an Air Defense Identification Zone since 1992. Azerbaijan has been very vocal in asserting its rights, putting Armenia, as well as the International Civil Aviation Organization and the European Civil Aviation Conference on notice since 2010.
