Azerbaijani Deputy PM meets Head of Azerbaijan Delegation of ICRC

Azerbaijan`s Deputy Prime Minister, chairman of the Republican Commission on International Humanitarian Aid Ali Hasanov has today met Head of the Azerbaijan Delegation of the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRS) Deniz Duran, SIA reports.

Hasanov expressed Azerbaijan`s concern over the fate of Azerbaijanis taken hostage by Armenia, saying there is no information about them yet. He said President Ilham Aliyev pays attention to these issues.
Hasanov noted that those persons are IDPs. Their aim was to visit their homeland and the graves of relatives. These persons have been taken hostage by invaders in the internationally recognized Azerbaijani territories. They didn`t violate norms and principles of any international law.
He stressed despite all this, Armenia spread false information about them, and rejects to apply provisions arising from 1949 Geneva Convention on "Protection of Civilians during the war" staining them as a criminal group.
He stressed the importance of activity of the ICRC on the persons taken hostage and working intensively in this direction.
Head of the Working Group of the State Commission on Prisoners of War Hostages and Missing persons Firudin Sadigov was also present at the meeting.
