The Italian Il Messaggero newspaper has published an article on the official visit of President Ilham Aliyev to Italy, which began yesterday, SIA reports quoting the AzerTac.
According to the article, a very important contract for Europe in terms of energy agreements will be signed, the expansion of economic and cultural relations between Azerbaijan and Italy will be discussed at the meeting.
The article states that Italy is the biggest trade partner of Azerbaijan for the past seven years and emphasizes that among the former Soviet republics Azerbaijan has reached its peak in economic development - the growth of non-oil sector in 2013 amounted to 9.5% , GDP - $ 74 billion, level of external debt - 9.1% , and the unemployment rate is only 5.6%.
The article emphasizes that Ilham Aliyev is the third time elected President of Azerbaijan and features his autobiographical information.
The article says that during his visit Azerbaijani President plans to meet with his Italian counterpart Giorgio Napolitano, Prime Minister of Italy Matteo Renzi, chairman of the country's Senate Pietro Grasso and the mayor of Rome Ignacio Marina.
The article provides information on the TAP gas pipeline project (Trans Adriatic Pipeline), which will supply Europe with gas by 2020 in framework of natural gas project "Shah Deniz-2" and which must be connected to the Italian network Snam Rete Gas.
The article noted with regret that there are movements against the construction of TAP in Italy.

In addition, the article provides information about the visit of representatives of the Italian business in Azerbaijan in November last year, establishing cooperation in the field of health, transport and construction sectors.
