The 96th anniversary of the establishment of Azerbaijan`s Armed Forces has been marked in Stockholm, Sweden, where the Azerbaijani Military Attaché Office organized an official reception, SIA reports.
Participants in the event included director of the Joint Staff of Swedish Armed Forces, Lieutenant General Jan Salestrand, Swedish high-ranking officers, foreign ambassadors and military attachés, top state and government officials, journalists and Azerbaijanis living in Stockholm.
Addressing the event, Azerbaijan`s military attaché Rovshan Karimov highlighted the history of Azerbaijan`s Armed Forces. He lauded national leader Heydar Aliyev`s role in army building in the country. "This policy is today being successfully continued by President, Commander-in-Chief Ilham Aliyev. Thanks to this, the Azerbaijani army is the strongest one in the region, and is the guarantor of stability in the region."
Karimov also stressed the contribution of the Azerbaijani Armed Forces to international peacekeeping operations.
