President of the OSCE Parliamentary Assembly Ranko Krivokapic decided not to deploy an election observation mission to Azerbaijan as the scheduled date for the presidential election coincides with the Assembly's meeting in Budva on October 13-15.
Krivokapic noted that OSCE PA has had a longstanding policy of exclusively focusing on observing parliamentary elections, and has observed presidential elections only under exceptional circumstances. SİA, citing the Press Service of the OSCE PA, reports that they will however send an election observation mission to Georgia for the 27 October presidential election.
The OSCE PA President is planning to visit a number of countries, including Georgia in autumn. Visit to Azerbaijan is not included in his autumn schedule.
