‘First of all, I must say that I have no concrete opinion on the National Council. This is the job of the members of these organizations’, US ambassador to Azerbaijan Richard Morningstar told correspondents while commenting on establishment of the National Council.
The ambassador said that the development of the process would be interesting.
Asked about the nomination of Ilham Aliyev for the presidency at yesterday’s meeting of New Azerbaijan Party (YAP), Morningstar said: ‘It is up to New Azerbaijan Party to nominate. My hope is that as it is in any other country the elections will be free and fair and Azerbaijanis would be able to vote for their president’.
