President of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev commented on Ramil Safarov’s extradition to Azerbaijan at the press conference after meeting with NATO General Secretary Anders Fog Rasmussen: "Ramil Safarov’s pardoning was realized in accordance with the Constitution of Azerbaijan. Everything is clear from the political point of view. Those who say that Azerbaijan has violated the European Convention either don’t realize the current situation, or want to confuse the public opinion. Armenians mustn’t use this issue in order to harm the peaceful solution of Nagorno Karabakh conflict. Azerbaijan stands for peaceful solution of the above mentioned conflict."
