"The citizens of Azerbaijan Farid Huseyn and Shahriyar Hajizadeh were released due to friendly relations between the two countries," said spokesman for the Iranian Ministry of Foreign Affairs Ramin Mehmanparast, Mehr news agency reports.
According to him, the two persons have been already returned to the Azerbaijani Consulate General in Tabriz. Memmanparast said that Huseyn and Hajizadeh were arrested by the security forces according to their illegal relations in Iran several months ago.
Huseyn and Hajizadeh, who went to Iran for poem festival, were arrested on May 2 in Tabriz. The Iranian side has denied the detention of the Azerbaijani poets for a long time. Then it was revealed that they were arrested. The Azerbaijani Ministry of Foreign Affairs repeatedly sent notes to Iran for clarifying the event.
