Azerbaijan is a piece and at the same time an integral part of the Islamic world, chief of the political analysis and information department of the Presidential Administration Elnur Aslanov has said.
Addressing the closing ceremony of "OIC Model -2012" international education program project, Aslanov said in this respect, holding the forum of Islamic countries in Azerbaijan was no coincidence.
"This is a natural rule. The religion of Islam is a lifestyle and national-moral values of vast majority of the Azerbaijani people. Of course, religion is separate from the state in Azerbaijan. But there is no denying that commitment to national-moral values is a factor of development of every society."
He noted that Azerbaijan historically attached a special importance to Islam.
"Today the country's leadership continues this tradition. Thus, in recent years, mosques, temples and other religious places have been built and reconstructed in our country.
The reconstruction of mosques and giving them at the disposal of believers is a vivid example of the importance that the state attaches to Islamic values," the official underlined.
