Lithuanian Foreign Minister Audronius Azubalis has said that both Armenia and Azerbaijan need political will to resolve the Karabakh conflict.
He told a joint press conference with his Armenian counterpart, Edward Nalbandian, in Yerevan, that Lithuania's position on the conflict is clear and unchanged.
Vilnius supports the co-chairs of the OSCE Minsk Group, the international body mediating a solution to the conflict, and welcomes their proposals, Azubalis said. He said that Lithuania also backs resolution of the issue within the UN Charter and Helsinki Final Act.
Asked about "warlike and racist statements" made by Azerbaijan, the Lithuanian minister said that it was important to create an atmosphere conducive to problem-solving.
"If the sides do not show political will or one side has less than the other, the process will not move," Azubalis said.
He added that the conflicting parties should realize that it's not adjectives that are important, but a constructive approach to resolution of the conflict.
