The 'Implementation of Twinning, TAIEX and Sigma Operations in
Azerbaijan' (ITTSO II) project is to support the Ministry of Economic
Development (MoED) as well the other government bodies and agencies of
Azerbaijan applying for EU assistance.
'The launch of the ITTSO II project constitutes a good step for
facilitation and further intensification of the contacts between the EU
and Azerbaijan. It should help further deepening of relations between
Azerbaijan and EU as it will serve to enhance the capacity of the
Azerbaijani institutions and promote approximation of their working
practices to those in the EU', said Head of the EU Delegation to
Azerbaijan, Ambassador Roland Kobia.
The objectives of this 24-month long project are directed at a steady
increase of a number of TAIEX, SIGMA and Twinning* projects; provision
of the information and support on successful identification, preparation
and implementation of those projects and events in Azerbaijan. It will
increase awareness in the use of the EU instruments. The sustainability
of the project will be ensured by increasing capacity of the Programme
Administration office of the MoED to operate on its own in the future.
