The letter was read out by the chairwoman of the State Committee for
Family, Women and Children, Hijran Huseynova, at the forum\'s opening
ceremony.
\"I warmly welcome the participants in the forum and all the children
and I wish you all happiness, health and success in life. This year we
are marking the 20th anniversary of Azerbaijan\'s independence, and
children – the participants in the forum – came into this world in
independent Azerbaijan. Children are the future of Azerbaijan. Our main
goal is to take care of them, provide medical services to the highest
standards. We need to make sure that children grow up physically and
mentally healthy, have good social conditions, and the opportunity to
demonstrate their abilities and talents,\" Ilham Aliyev said.
The president believes that the younger generation is brought up in the
spirit of the national values of Azerbaijan, and will make every
effort for the development and success of Azerbaijan in the future.
\"The development of children as worthy citizens of independent
Azerbaijan is a priority for our country\'s public policy. Azerbaijan’s
law \'On children’s rights\', adopted in 1998, includes the provisions of
the UN Convention on Children’s Rights.
\"Since that time national laws and regulations on this subject have
been continuously improved, the government has adopted numerous programs
that protect children and ensure that they have a wide range of
interests, so that they grow up healthy in a healthy environment.
\"I believe that your forum will become an integral part and a logical
extension of the State Children\'s Policy. Good luck to the forum and
success to all of you," the president said in his message.
