A delegation of the European Parliament has held a meeting at the SOCAR, Azeri state oil firm, to discuss the role of Azerbaijan in European energy security.
Elshad Nasirov, SOCAR’s vice-president on investments and marketing said that Azerbaijan had close relations with EU and expressed confidence that these relations would continue to develop. The vice-president mentioned that Azerbaijan is known around the world as an ancient oil-rich country and provided insight into the successful energy projects implemented over the last years. He stressed the importance of these projects for European energy security.
Baris Zala, MP of European Parliament from Slovakia described fruitful Azerbaijan-EU relations as a ‘great success’. The MPs said that they would use information about Azerbaijan and its developing economy in their future activities.
