In 2024, oil production in Kazakhstan dropped by 2.4 million tons, negatively affecting the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) growth rate, Kazakh Prime Minister Oljas Bektenov stated at today's extended government meeting, SİA informs.
"This was mainly due to the country's commitments within OPEC+, as well as major maintenance work at large fields (Tengiz, Kashagan, Karachaganak)," Bektenov noted.
The prime minister added that Kazakhstan's GDP grew by 4.8% last year. Meanwhile, in 2023, GDP growth reached 5.1%.
Bektenov also pointed out that Kazakhstan harvested over 26 million tons of grain and more than 3 million tons of oilseeds in 2024. At the same time, 4 million tons of grain were exported from the country during the reporting period.
"Last year, the volume of cargo transportation increased by 10%, reaching approximately 1 billion tons. Container transportation along the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route (TITR) increased 2.7 times," the head of government stated.
