During excavation works in the liberated territories, the remains of 187 individuals, believed to be related to 23 mass graves, have been exhumed, Gazanfar Ahmadov, the Secretary of the State Commission for Prisoners of War, Hostages and Missing Persons, during the presentation of the "Assessment Report: Accounting for Missing Persons in the Republic of Azerbaijan" by the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), organized by the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons, APA reports.
The Secretary of the State Commission noted that during construction works in the territories freed from Armenia's occupation, the remains of up to 309 individuals were found. "At the same time, in 23 cemeteries across various cities and regions of Azerbaijan, the remains of 192 individuals, buried without identification, have been exhumed. As of March 1, 2025, the remains of 688 missing persons have been found. The identities of 165 of them have been identified, and their remains have been handed over to their families."
