Masoud Pezeshkian: ECO countries should aim to create free trade area

The member countries of the Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) should strive to create a free trade area, Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian stated at the 17th ECO summit held in Khankendi, SİA informs.

According to Masoud Pezeshkian, it is necessary to review and implement the Trade Agreement between ECO member countries and start free trade negotiations as soon as possible.

Pezeshkian noted that landlocked ECO countries should have cheaper, shorter and easier access to open seas and world markets:

"Iran and other transit countries play an important role in this matter. New advantages and benefits in ports and entry-exit points for ECO countries may be considered. The network of ECO member countries' logistics hubs in ports and border points should be established and equipped in accordance with the highest international standards."
