Azerbaijan's Foreign Ministry voices strong protest over anti-Azerbaijani remarks
The Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to Azerbaijan, Mikhail Yevdokimov, was summoned to Azerbaijan's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, SİA informs.
According to a statement, during the meeting, the serious concern and firm protest of the Azerbaijani side regarding the provocative, insulting and threatening statements made in the media and information space of the Russian Federation in recent times against the Azerbaijani state, people and the leadership of the country were brought to the attention of the Russian side.
"In particular, attention was drawn to the statements made against our country and the leadership of the Republic of Azerbaijan in the program broadcast on 13 August 2026 within the framework of the 'Chastota Ponimaniya' project. In addition, the program broadcast on 'Sputnik' radio on 7 August, the absurd claims made regarding the inclusion of the Azerbaijani leadership in 'Russia's list of terrorists and extremists', the provocative views expressed again on the 'Spas' TV channel on 16 August against the Azerbaijani leadership were reminded," the MFA said.
It was emphasized that discussing the possibilities of interference in the internal political processes of Azerbaijan and making calls for physical violence against the Azerbaijani nation and Azerbaijan's leadership are unacceptable.
It was stated that despite the repeated calls by the Azerbaijani side to counter the aforementioned activities and the fact that the issue has been discussed at various political levels, the continuation of similar rhetoric in a harsher form is a cause for serious concern.
"During the meeting, our expectation to take urgent and effective measures to end the provocations, threats, and violent rhetoric against Azerbaijan in the information and media space was once again conveyed to the Russian side," the MFA stated.
On August 17, the General Prosecutor's Office of Azerbaijan released information stating that necessary measures have been taken towards organizing an international search through Interpol channels for Russian citizens - host of the "Moscow 24" TV channel, journalist Ivan Knyazev; Semyon Uralov, who presents himself as a political consultant and media expert in the Russian Federation; and Alexei Chadayev, advisor to the Minister of Transport of the Russian Federation, who also acts as a television correspondent.
The aforementioned individuals are accused of making open calls for the forcible change of the constitutional order of the Republic of Azerbaijan, the fragmentation of its territorial integrity, the incitement of national hatred and enmity, as well as terrorism.
Although a criminal case has been initiated against these individuals, considering that they are outside the borders of Azerbaijan, they have been declared wanted, and a preventive measure of arrest has been selected against them by the relevant decisions of the court.
On July 14 and August 13, 2026, in the program "Чистота понимания" broadcast on the channel named "Семён Уралов" on the "YouTube" platform, the aforementioned individuals made open calls for terrorism by expressing thoughts about the application of violent methods against Azerbaijan, including keeping specific individuals under the direct threat of physical destruction and their targeted elimination.
