Azerbaijan and OIC mull strengthening cooperation

Azerbaijani Foreign Minister Jeyhun Bayramov met with Berek Arin, the Director General of the Islamic Organization for Food Security (IOFS), as part of his official visit to Kazakhstan, SİA informs, citing the Azerbaijani MFA.

During the meeting, the prospects of expanding cooperation between Azerbaijan and the IOFS, in particular, exploring joint solutions to food security problems, were discussed.

Minister Jeyhun Bayramov, emphasizing that Azerbaijan, as a donor state, makes significant contributions to international humanitarian and development assistance programs, drew attention to the importance of promoting mutually beneficial cooperation in terms of solving such an important challenge as urgent global food security.

Bayramov also noted that the continuous strengthening of food security is one of the main priorities of the socio-economic policy implemented in Azerbaijan.

Director General Berek Aren, expressing gratitude for Azerbaijan's contributions to food security programs, highly appreciated the country's active participation within the OIC and its important role in addressing regional food security.

The achievements made during Azerbaijan's COP29 presidency were particularly noted. It was emphasized that the direct effects of climate change on food security indicate the need to attach special importance to this area.

The meeting concluded with an exchange of views on other issues of mutual interest and the importance of deepening cooperation in the field of food security was once again emphasized.

In addition, a comprehensive presentation was made on the activities of the IOFS.
