The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of China has expressed gratitude to Azerbaijan for assisting in the evacuation of Chinese citizens from Iran, Chinese Foreign Ministry spokesperson Guo Jiakun said at a briefing today.
He said during the evacuation of Chinese citizens from the escalation zone, countries such as Iran, Azerbaijan, Turkmenistan, Armenia, Türkiye, Iraq, the UAE, Oman, Kuwait, Egypt, and Jordan provided valuable support to China. The Chinese diplomat expressed gratitude to all these countries.
More than 740 Chinese citizens had been evacuated from Iran to Azerbaijan through the Astara border checkpoint as of June 21.
