The unauthorized presentation of the song "Qal, Sana Qurban," composed by Alakbar Taghiyev with lyrics by renowned poet Mikayil Mushfig, as Armenian music has been successfully prevented, the Intellectual Property Agency of Azerbaijan stated in response to an inquiry from Report.
According to the Agency, Cypriot singer of Armenian origin Hovik Demirchyan attempted to misappropriate the song, presenting it as part of Armenian musical heritage. Demirchyan also uploaded the piece to YouTube in Greek under the title, "Hara Gedir."
The statement emphasizes that, following measures taken by the Intellectual Property Agency, the song in question was removed from the YouTube platform with the technical support of the Public Union of Digital and Audiovisual Broadcasting Industry. This organization collectively manages the rights of authors, performers, and phonogram producers across digital networks.
