Azerbaijan celebrates the first Tuesday before the Novruz Holiday - the Water Tuesday or Su Charshanbasi today, according to SİA.

According to beliefs, since God first created water, the first Tuesday is celebrated as Water Tuesday. In some sources, it is also called "primordial Tuesday" or "flower Tuesday." On this Tuesday, the resurrection of water manifests itself.

According to ancient beliefs, this Tuesday begins with the belief in water worship. According to belief, “freshwater”, that is, foamy white water taken before dawn, is considered a cure for a thousand and one ailments.

The Novruz Holiday, which heralds the arrival of spring, is also considered the beginning of the year. That is why people can wish for a year as clear and beautiful as water. The lighting of the first bonfire on Water Tuesday is an indication that the ice has melted and winter is behind.

Putting water on the table on Water Tuesday and spilling water on the table is interpreted as auspicious. If water spills on your table, that year is expected to bring you abundant blessings. On Water Tuesday, bonfires are lit in everyone’s yards and the holiday spirit is conveyed. On that day, people throwing water on each other is also a sign of good luck.

Fire Tuesday will be celebrated on March 4, Wind Tuesday on March 11, and Ilakhir Charsanba - Earth Tuesday will be celebrated on March 18.

The entry of spring into Azerbaijan will coincide with March 20, Baku time, at 13:01:25 (GMT+4). At this time, night and day are equal, and the Sun rises due east and sets due west.
