New requirements are being defined for news agencies, SİA reports.
This was reflected in the proposed amendment to the Law on Media, which was put up for discussion at today's session of the Milli Majlis.
According to the draft, an information agency must have agreements on providing (obtaining) information with at least 20 (twenty) media entities, must have journalists accredited in at least 5 (five) foreign countries, and additionally, for at least 20 (twenty) days each month, at least 80% (eighty percent) of the total volume of the daily mass information it publishes must comply with the requirements stipulated in Article 60.5 of this Law.
Note that, according to Article 60.5 of the law, the activity of an online media entity (editorial offices) is considered continuous if it publishes at least 20 (twenty) pieces of mass information daily for 20 (twenty) days each month.
