The meeting between Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev and Armenian Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan, which took place on July 10 in Abu Dhabi, can be seen as a step towards strengthening the agreement on the text of the peace treaty between the two countries, reached in March, said Stephane Dujarric, spokesperson for UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres, answering a question from the American bureau of Report, expressing the position of the secretary-general.
According to Dujarric, Guterres is following very closely the ongoing positive processes between the two countries.
"We welcome this dialogue between two countries that have been experiencing tensions for a long time. We remember the agreement on the peace treaty reached in March and consider this a very positive development. This meeting can be seen as a step towards strengthening the agreement on the text of the peace treaty. The secretary-general is following these processes very closely," Dujarric noted.
