Eight more people have been arrested in Türkiye as part of the Istanbul City Hall corruption investigation, SİA informs referring to Turkish media.
During the trial, the judge ordered the arrest of Bulut Aydoner, Fatih Yagci, Huseyin Yurddas, Kadir Ozturk, Murat Or, Mustafa Bostanci, Sabri Caner Kirca and Umit Polat. Zafer Cimen and Salih Ilhan were placed under police supervision.
The Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor's Office is investigating the suspects, including the arrested and suspended Mayor Ekrem Imamoglu, on charges of "leading a criminal organization," "membership in a criminal organization," "extortion," "bribery," "serious fraud," "illegal acquisition of personal data," and "misappropriation."
The individuals who were ordered to be arrested were detained on July 9 as a result of an operation carried out by teams from the Financial Crimes Unit as part of an investigation conducted by the Istanbul Public Prosecutor's Office.
