IBM representative office opened in Baku

The U.S. International Business Machines Corp. (IBM) has today announced the opening of its new official representation in Baku and held a press conference in this regard, SIA informs.

The new office will focus on the interaction with clients on strategic areas such as analytics, cloud computing, mobility, social interaction, as well as infrastructure solutions.

"The opening of IBM representation in Azerbaijan and its further activities will contribute to the implementation of the national strategy to attract foreign investment in the country’s ICT sector, expand the partnership between international vendors and local companies, as well as strengthen their capacity," said Elmir Velizadeh, Azerbaijan’s Deputy Minister of Communications and High Technologies.

"The company pays great attention to activities in emerging markets as we are well aware of the opportunities offered by high growth rates and increasingly competitive market. Our current strategy of expanding regional coverage is successful and long-lasting. We consider Azerbaijan to be the key direction in this work," said Eray Yuksek, IBM Director General for Countries with Developing Economy.

Azerbaijan is one of the most fast-growing markets in the region due to the national economic policy aimed at creating sustainable and diversified economy by 2020.

"Demand for state-of-the-art technologies is growing as a result of the reforms in the economic development of the country. Thus, companies are eager to make their activities more efficient and competitive. Up-to-date solutions offered by IBM at this market will lay the foundations of a new stage in the development of this rapidly growing economy," said Ilya Kravtsov, IBM Director General in Azerbaijan.

IBM has a number of clients operating in Azerbaijan in IT-services, banking, public sector, telecommunications and industrial sectors.
